Rosenstaub translates to rose dust and symbolises the subtle feminine undertone that is present in all our lines. The word "dust" also has a symbolic meaning for something small, seemingly insignificant, but which can create something extraordinary when combined with other elements.

Neoprene is the main component, the heart of our bags. The material is best known from water sports, where it is used in the form of diving and surfing suits as heat-insulating sportswear. Neoprene was developed by DuPont in 1931. It is water repellent, flexible, durable and offers a wide range of uses at a wide range of temperatures. These properties, coupled with its futuristic look, have helped this durable, soft material to emancipate itself from its original purpose as a diving suit - and it has long since found its way into fashion.

Our bags are water repellent, although not completely waterproof. This means that water beads on the surface and is prevented from penetrating inside. However, in continuous or heavy rain, it cannot be ruled out that over time it will also get wet inside. For a completely waterproof product, seams would have to be specially welded and zippers sealed. We do not do this for optical and ecological reasons.

Since in some of our bags also leather elements are processed, for example the handles, we recommend to refrain from machine washing. The bags can be cleaned both inside and outside with a damp cloth or a mild soap simply by hand.

The easiest way is to wipe the bag with a damp cloth. Stains can also be treated with a mild soap or baby shampoo. For our neoprene and Yulex lines there are also special neoprene cleaners to buy. However, they are not cheap and in our experience an ordinary mild care product is usually sufficient.

Neoprene is durable, but also soft. Neoprene products can temporarily change shape if stored improperly. For example, if the bag is stored constricted and thus subjected to pressure or if it is pressed against uneven surfaces. We therefore recommend that our bags be stored on a flat surface in a dust bag, which we send with every order, and avoid direct sunlight. If pressure marks do become noticeable, the bag can be filled well with a towel, for example, and stored overnight on a flat surface. This usually fixes the deformation again.
